2 QUESTIONS for Patricia Trickett founder of Digitalistyle in London who helps businesses manage their social media.
What elements combine to make a good social media post?
You need a script and a hook to grab your audience’s attention. Also well-composed photography. In a video you need a signature element at the beginning or the end that your audience can relate to and that makes you recognisable. For example, a product like a certain coffee mug that you carry with you in every post – even if you are not selling a product. Or a slogan or something you say at the beginning or end of every video you post. It should be something that your audience can relate to.
A lot of solo-entrepreneurs and small businesses want to do their social media themselves. But what is better left to a professional social media manager?
Before you even start, you need a plan – having a strategy is extremely important. Big companies have entire marketing teams for that, so we shouldn’t do it on our own. If you have a plan, you don’t have to waste money and time on random actions, but all the pieces of the puzzle come together.
